This tie always felt like it would be decided by who took best use of their home advantage with Kairat typically very strong at home in Europe but weak away. They’d won 7 of their 8 previous Europa League home games going into last week’s clash with Maccabi Tel Aviv and they’d beaten some fairly strong sides over that period. However they were frustrated by the Israelis and could only manage a 1-1 draw. The goalscorers were both very familiar names to Premier League followers with Andrei Arshavin giving Kairat the lead only for Yossi Benayoun to grab a dramatic late away goal for Maccabi.

The Israelis suddenly became favourites to win this tie in that split second and will be confident they can get the better of Kairat with home advantage. They were convincing 3-0 home winners against Gorica in the last round and are unbeaten at home in 2016. Maccabi made the Champions League group stage last season and only missed out on returning to the Champions League by a narrow 2 point margin in the Israeli top flight last term.

They have won 10 of their last 11 home games in all competitions which is a great record to have coming into this. They’ve also won 4 of their last 5 home fixtures in this competition with Bordeaux and Eintracht Frankfurt among the sides they’ve beaten. Kairat don’t tend to travel well in Europe and have only twice won on the road in this competition.

Therefore a home win looks most likely here and you can back Maccabi Tel Aviv to Win at 8/13.

The sides met for the first time last week with the sides drawing 1-1 in Kazakhstan.

Maccabi are unbeaten in 14 home games this calendar year, winning 12 of them. Kairat have only won twice away from home in European competition although one of those was last month in Albania against Teuta Durrës.

Yossi Benayoun could come into a more attacking side after his crucial late contribution as a sub last week.

Kairat aren't expected to make many changes from the 1st Leg although Tawamba Kana could come into the side after his brace in a weekend win in the Kazakh League.
